Our Early Childhood Programs -Ìý Toddler, Nursery, and Pre-KindergartenÌýoffer a unique Christian environment for young children. Ìý
Ìý- Children learn school readiness skills in reading, math, Ìýand science all through play.Ìý
- Hands-on activities in small groups give children the opportunity to manipulate materials to develop critical thinking skills. Ìý
- There is also a focus on social emotional learning including self management, relationships, and decision making skills. Ìý
- Faith-based activities that focus on kindness and love are incorporated into daily activities. ÌýThese programs allow each child to experience the joy of learning at his/her own pace.
- All classes are led by a teacher and teacher assistant. There is a focus on keeping children safe and healthy in a caring well managed environment.Ìý
- All programs use manipulatives, arts and crafts supplies, and technology including the SMART Board and iPads.ÌýÌý
- Gross motor skills are developed by utilizing our playgrounds and outdoor spaces and as well as our gymnasium. Ìý
- We also have an indoor Movement Room for use during inclement weather. There are centers in every classroom where students can socialize, use their imaginations, and expand their emotional growth.Ìý

Toddler Programs
We offer two programs for toddlers, the Toddler Program and Toddler Plus.Ìý The Toddler Program is for children who will be 18 months old by SeptemberÌý1.Ìý
The program meets one time per week with the child and caregiver.Ìý Toddler Plus is for children who will be 24 months by SeptemberÌý1 andÌýmeets twice per week with the child and caregiver.Ìý
As the year progresses, the caregiver and child separate so the children are ready for Nursery School. Opportunities are provided for the children to utilize their senses, enjoy new experiences, develop language skills, and interact with other children. ÌýChildren are given some independence and learn to follow simple classroom routines.ÌýÌý

Nursery School
In Nursery School, Ìýchildren learn early readiness skills. Children are introduced to letters and numbers. ÌýThey learn to recognize their name, colors, shapes, and some letters and numbers. Children learn through imaginative play as they work in centers using dramatic play, blocks, and arts and crafts.

Pre-Kindergarten
In Pre-Kindergarten, children learn the foundations of reading by developing a strong letter to sound relationship, experience reading different types of genres, and learn to connect stories Ìýto their own lives.
The goal of the math curriculum is to develop a strong number sense allowing them to ultimately begin simple addition and subtraction. They will investigate 2D and 3D shapes and simple geometry.Ìý
Children learn about the world around them through simple experiments, understanding the differences between living and non living things and learning about animals and their habitats.

- Toddler Program, children age 18 months by September 1 for a child and caregiver. Meets one morning per week.
- Toddler Plus Program, childrenÌýage 24 months by September 1.
- For Nursery, age 3 by December 1
- For Pre-K, age 4 by December 1
- ForÌýKindergarten, age 5 by December 1

Full Day option is available for N and Pre-K. K is full day. 8:45 AM is regular drop off.
"Early birds" can be dropped off as early as 8 AM.
Dismissal is 2:45 PM or 3 PM depending on the program.
Full day students may stay for the After School Program which runs until 5:30 pm. After School is low or no cost (based on numbers of students) thanks to a grant.

At StB/OLH, our Early Childhood programs combine academic readiness with creative play in a welcoming environment centered around the Gospel values of love and acceptance. Because they are part of a Kindergarten through grade 8 school, all of the resources and facilities are available to our Early Childhood students.

We are located in the heart of Nassau County in a residential neighborhood in Westbury. Our school has lots of green space and three playgrounds designed especially for our Early Childhood Program. St. Brigid's Parish Church and Our Lady of Hope Parish Church are located about 1 mile from the school.

Yes, we have a full time on-site nurse.

We have fun, dynamic interaction.ÌýOur Early Childhood classes are buddied up with and Elementary Classes. Together, the classes participate in various activities together throughout the year.

Snack time is built into the schedule. Because of food allergies we ask that snacks be brought to school from home.
